Referral Bonus Programs

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is positioning for the future and created the Referral Bonus Program to meet the demand for experienced employees in the following roles.

Central Sterile Processing Supervisors Referral Program

VUMC will pay $2,000 to a VUMC employee who successfully refers a supervisor candidate to the Central Sterile Processing department. The program runs from Oct. 16, 2017 - Jan. 31, 2018.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the potential candidate to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the potential candidate includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you'll get:

  • $1,000 after the new hire has been employed 90 days
  • $1,000 at the end of an additional 90 days of the new employee period (180 days from hire date).

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be Oct. 16, 2017 - Jan. 31, 2018. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.
  • If the prospective new employee previously worked for VUMC, the break in service must be 6 months or longer.
  • The bonus will only be paid to VUMC staff-level employees. Director level and up are not eligible for the bonus.
  • VUMC Human Resources employees are not eligible for the bonus.

VUMC Environmental Services Referral Program

VUMC will pay $300 to an employee who successfully refers a full time or part-time candidate to the Environmental Services Department. The program runs from Aug. 1 - Dec. 31, 2017.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the potential candidate to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the potential candidate includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you'll get:

  • $150 after the new hire has been employed 90 days
  • $150 at the end of an additional 90 days of the new employee period (180 days from hire date).

VUMC Nutrition Services Referral Program

VUMC will pay $300 to an employee who successfully refers a full time or part-time candidate to the Department of Nutrition Services. The program starts July 1, 2017 and ends Dec. 31, 2017.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the potential candidate to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the potential candidate includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you'll get:

  • $150 after the new hire has been employed 90 days
  • $150 at the end of an additional 90 days of the new employee period (180 days from hire date).

Interpreter Services Referral Bonus Program

VUMC will pay $500 to a VUMC employee who successfully refers a full-time interpreter to Interpreter Services. The program runs from April 17, 2017-Oct. 17, 2018.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the interpreter to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the interpreter includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you’ll get:

  • $250 after the interpreter has been employed six months.
  • $250 after the interpreter has worked at VUMC for a full year.

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be April 17, 2017-Oct. 17, 2018. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.
  • The purpose of this program is to generate "new" candidates, so only applications, profiles or resumes entered for the first time during this time period are eligible.
  • VUMC Human Resources employees are not eligible for the bonus.

Coder Referral Bonus Program

VUMC will pay $1,500 to an employee who successfully refers a full-time coder for these roles: Coding Specialist, CDS, and Auditor (Coding and Nurse). The coder needs these qualifications:

  • Coders will need to have an active coding certification.

The program runs from March 18, 2015 through June 30, 2018.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the coder to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the coder includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you’ll get:

  • $750 after the coder has been employed 90 days
  • $750 after the coder has worked at VUMC for a full year

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be March 18, 2015 to June 30, 2018. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.
  • The purpose of this program is to generate "new" candidates, so only applications, profiles or resumes entered for the first time during this time period are eligible.
  • You can refer former coders, except those employed with Vanderbilt after Jan. 1, 2014.
  • The bonus will only be paid to VUMC staff-level employees. Managers (or above) are not eligible for the bonus.
  • VUMC Human Resources employees are not eligible for the bonus.

VUMC Nurse Referral Bonus Program

VUMC will pay $2,500 to an employee who successfully refers a full-time nurse with a BSN degree and at least one year of experience. The program runs from Sept. 2, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2017.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the BSN to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the BSN includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you’ll get:

  • $1,250 after the BSN has been employed 90 days
  • $1,250 after the BSN has worked at Vanderbilt for a full year

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be Sept. 2, 2015 - Dec. 31, 2017. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.

  • You can refer former BSNs, except those employed with Vanderbilt after Jan. 1, 2014.

VICTR Application Developer Referral Program

VUMC will pay $3,000 to a VUMC employee who successfully refers a full-time application developer to VICTR. The program runs from May 6, 2016 - June 30, 2018.

How to Make a Referral

Ask the application developer to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the application developer includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you’ll get:

  • $1,500 after the application developer has been employed 90 days
  • $1,500 after the application developer has been employed 180 days

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be May 6, 2016 - June 30, 2018. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.
  • If the prospective new employee previously worked for Vanderbilt, the break in service must be 12 months or longer.
  • The bonus will only be paid to VUMC staff or supervisor-level employees. Manager level and up are not eligible for the bonus.
  • VUMC Human Resources employees are not eligible for the bonus.

VUMC will pay $1,500 to an employee who successfully refers a full-time diagnostic laboratory professional for any of the positions listed below. The program runs from March 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

  • Cytogenetic Technologist
  • Histotechnician
  • Histotechnologist
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • Medical Lab Technician
  • Pathology Technician

How to Make a Referral

Ask the diagnostic lab professional to go to the Work at VUMC website and complete an online application. Make sure the diagnostic lab professional includes your name, as listed in People Finder, as the referral source. Make a successful referral and you’ll get:

  • $750 after the diagnostic lab professional has been employed 90 days
  • $750 after the diagnostic lab professional has worked at VUMC for a full year

Details and Eligibility Guidelines

  • The candidate must include the name of the referring VUMC employee on his or her Work at VUMC website application.
  • The initial date the candidate submits his or her application to the Work at VUMC website must be March 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016. Applications or resumes submitted before or after these dates are not eligible for the bonus.
