Save the date: Open Enrollment for 2018 benefits is coming soon(er)

2018 open enrollment save the date

Save the date! The 2018 benefits open enrollment period is Oct. 3-20, which is two weeks earlier than last year. Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to choose the benefits that best fit the needs of you and your family.

This year, in light of the launch of EpicLeap, we are keeping enrollment simple. Open Enrollment will be passive, meaning your 2017 benefits, except for flexible spending accounts, will automatically roll over to 2018 unless you want to make changes.

  • If you take no action, your 2017 benefits (except FSA) will automatically roll over, and you will have those same benefits in 2018.
    • If you received the $20 tobacco-free credit for 2017, you will automatically receive the credit for 2018.
    • If you paid the spouse coverage fee of $100 per month in 2017, you will pay the spouse coverage fee of $100 in 2018.
    • Your flexible spending account election will not carry over to 2018. That’s an IRS rule we can’t change. If you want to participate in a FSA for 2018, you will need to enroll on My VUMC Benefits.
  • If you want or need to make changes, you may do so by simply logging into My VUMC Benefits and make those changes.

The following benefits are part of Open Enrollment:

Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 3 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 20, 2017. The benefits you elect will take effect on Jan. 1, 2018 and last until Dec. 31, 2018.

No action is required yet; we just wanted you to be aware of the enrollment dates for planning purposes. Stay tuned for more information about open enrollment for 2018 in the coming weeks, and visit vumc-oe.com for news and updates.
